These systems are of vital importance for pilot health and aircraft safety, ensuring aircraft are safely caught and arrested at a certain distance in cases of emergency landing and aborted take-offs at air bases.
The system can arrest different aircraft (F4, F16, F35, etc.) at flight speeds of up to 190 knots, and weights ranging from 10,000 lb to 100,000 lb. When the system is active, it automatically arrests the aircraft during entry. The system operates in all weather conditions, and in a temperature range of -40⁰C to +50⁰C. It has a capacity to arrest six aircraft in an hour.
There are three types of Aircraft Arrest Systems: Cable AAS, Net Barriers and Mobile AAS.
